Training

Helping participants address their needs

Our trainings help participants to build capabilities in areas such as commercialising research, entrepreneurship, and grant writing. We can design bespoke programs or deliver our comprehensive package that addresses the primary needs of the customers. We work with universities, accelerators, governmental innovation agencies and individual companies. Over the last three years, we have trained over 900 people.

Our team consists of highly experienced trainers with a track record of success in the UK Innovation sector, and who have been lead trainers for the prestigious Innovate UK Investabilty programme and iCure. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from starting up, fostering innovation and supporting people seeking to start a company.

Quantum LEAP -

Nurturing Quantum Entrepreneurs

Change:Rallying Support for an EU COST Action Proposal in Quantum Integrated Photonics

QuantIC, the UK Quantum Technology Hub for Imaging, led by the University of Glasgow, sought to bridge the gap between academia and industry by developing a groundbreaking skills program. Anchored In partnered with QuantIC to create Quantum Leap, a pre-accelerator program for aspiring quantum entrepreneurs. Quantum Leap uses a structured framework to guide researchers through development phases, starting with online sessions to engage and inspire a wide range of participants. This foundation leads to residential bootcamps for those with mature ideas and strong entrepreneurial commitment. The final phase offers select participants a trip to Silicon Valley during Photonics West to engage with the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Quantum Leap has successfully nurtured a new generation of quantum entrepreneurs by providing essential skills in networking, communication, and entrepreneurship. This collaboration has driven innovation in quantum technologies, preparing participants to translate their research into commercially viable products.

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) SMART Initiative

From Grant Journey to Research Accelerator Programme (RAP)

NTU sought to enhance the grant writing skills of its researchers and partnered with Anchored In to deliver a transformative program called “the Grant Journey” as part of the SMART initiative. Launched in June 2023, it initially targeted mid-career researchers, but expanded in September 2023 to include early career researchers and senior researchers. The program, featuring online and in-person sessions, drop-in sessions, mentoring, and grant development support, provided tailored and impactful training. Early career researchers reported increased understanding of research support, a short-term plan to apply for funding, and improved communication confidence. Mid-career researchers saw a significant rise in grant applications and success rates, securing crucial funding for NTU. Due to its success, the program evolved into the Researcher Accelerator Programme (RAP) in January 2024, expanding institution-wide to support researchers across all NTU disciplines.

Adapting to the Challenges of a Changing Environment (ACCE)

Empowering Environmental Researcher through Business Skills Training

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funds the Doctoral Training Partnership in Adapting to the Challenges of a Changing Environment (ACCE), a collaborative effort between the Universities of York, Sheffield, Liverpool, and the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH). ACCE aims to produce multi-skilled researchers capable of addressing global environmental challenges. To complement their scientific training, ACCE students need business skills to engage with industry, understand impact pathways, and enhance their employability. Anchored In proposed a tailored business skills programme named "World Changers". The programme was structured as a 3-day bootcamp, addressing the diverse needs of the student cohort. The training included sessions on networking and collaboration, developing impact from research, project flyer development, pitch training, IP considerations, and delivering impact through commercialisation. The "World Changers" programme equipped ACCE students with essential business skills to engage with industry, understand impact pathways, and enhance their employability. This comprehensive training will empower ACCE students to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering impactful research and broader career opportunities in environmental science.
